Israel is set to release 250 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences for killing Israelis, as part of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. This decision is controversial as it involves releasing some of the worst terrorists and murderers.

The exchange of hostages and prisoners is, for the Israelis, certainly the biggest point. Getting the remaining hostages from October 7th, 2023. This would be in exchange for prisoners in Israeli custody. And this is by far has been the biggest point of contention.

The release of hostages is seen as great news, but there is concern that Israel might try to scuttle the deal or violate it after getting the hostages back.

The Israeli cabinet has approved an agreement to stop the war in Gaza. This agreement includes Israel pulling back to a predefined border and the release of 20 live hostages and 28 dead hostages within 72 hours of a ceasefire. Hamas claims this is the end of the war, but the United States says it could be if Hamas disarms and hands over governance.

Hamas has agreed to release all remaining Israeli hostages, including the bodies of any deceased hostages, as part of President Trump's peace plan.

In return, Israel is going to release some 250 Palestinian terrorists in Israeli prisons. It's unclear who is on the list at this point.

President Trump announced that the hostages will be released soon, probably by Monday. This is huge news for Israel.
