Israel is set to release 250 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences for killing Israelis, as part of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. This decision is controversial as it involves releasing some of the worst terrorists and murderers.
The exchange of hostages and prisoners is, for the Israelis, certainly the biggest point. Getting the remaining hostages from October 7th, 2023. This would be in exchange for prisoners in Israeli custody. And this is by far has been the biggest point of contention.
Notice those two contrasting messages at the very end. One says, Israel loves war, and one is release our hostages. Like the moral imbalance there is pretty amazing.
They keep 53% of Gaza. What happened? I thought it was about the hostages. You got your hostages back. You did your self-defense. What else do you need?
The release of hostages is seen as great news, but there is concern that Israel might try to scuttle the deal or violate it after getting the hostages back.
